30 Days of Prayer for Muslims

It is imperative that all Christians around the world pray for Muslims during the month of Ramadan and throughout the whole year.

Many Muslims are coming to Christ than ever before, many after seeing visions and dreams of Jesus. (For more, see Tom Doyle’s excellent book or DVD, Dreams and Visions.)
More Muslims around the world have become Christians in the last fifteen years than in the previous fifteen centuries.

WHY PRAY FOR MUSLIMS ESPECIALLY DURING THE RAMADA

According to Muslims, the Prophet Muhammad received the first of his revelations from the archangel Gabriel in the year AD 610.
As a result, observant Muslims mark this event each year by fasting during the entire month. From sunup to sundown, seeking to shed away their sins through acts of restraint. They believe this is a time of purification accomplished through good deeds and self -control; they abstain from food, drink, smoking, and sexual relations. They believe that spiritual rewards for good deeds are multiplied during the 30 days, so they are especially focusing on prayer and worship; they are most open to God. This is a strategic time for the body of Christ and especially for the Watchmen to pray for the Muslim people of the world; they are reachable through the power of prayer. As Open Doors founder Brother Andrew says, “Our prayers can go where we cannot. While many things may seem impossible from a human standpoint, in the realm of prayer there are no impossibilities.” Only God knows the answers to our prayers as we have joined together around a common theme. Let us believe God for mighty things as we join together to focus on Him during this annual prayer time – and throughout the year – for the Muslim world.

Missionaries to the Muslim world report miraculous movements of God’s Spirit during these 30 days. The Lord wants us not to fear Muslims but to love them and to intercede for them every day. He intends for the world to be “filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea” (Habakkuk 2:14). His Spirit is working powerfully to bring Muslims to Jesus.

That’s how we can help. That’s where we come in.

HOW SHOULD WE PRAY

Pray For:
  • Spiritual revival in the Muslim world, resulting in Muslims receiving Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord (The Bible, Psalm 80:19).
  • Muslims to be freed from the bondage of a false, works-based religion (John 14:6). Pray that God will break and soften hardened hearts,
  • The Holy Spirit to open the hearts and minds of Muslims on the “Night of Power” to the Truth of Jesus Christ (John 14:26). Pray that God will break and soften hardened hearts,
  • The Lord Jesus to reveal Himself to Muslim people (to moderate and extremist Muslims alike) through dreams and visions (Job 33:15). There are many stories throughout the Bible where God spoke through a dream or vision. (Genesis 41, Genesis 46:2 & 3, Daniel 4, Judges 7:10-15, Ezekiel 11:24, Matthew 2:12, 19, Acts 10:3-20, Revelation 1:1). In many of these cases the end result was for the purpose of salvation or physical safety. Ramadan is a strategic time for Christians to believe that God would sovereignly reveal Himself to those who do not yet know Him.
  • Muslims to receive the forgiveness that only Jesus Christ can give (1 John 1:9).
  • God to bless workers that are serving Muslim communities (Romans 10:14-15). Pray for increased numbers of missionaries and workers, and pray for new believers (1 Timothy 2:1).
  • Pray for strength, courage, protection, peace for those converted to Christianity and are isolated, persecuted. Pray for the Holy Spirit to empower and protect believers who are committed to ministries in Muslim countries.
